The 2020/21 Premier Soccer league has seen KwaZulu-Natal teams experience a purple patch in both the DStv Premiership and GladAfrica Championship, and a KZN-born legend has shared advice on how to maintain this good run.
AmaZulu FC and Lamontville Golden Arrows are on a right tract to qualify for continental competitions, while in the GAC, Richards Bay and Royal AM are chasing promotion to the top flight.
Durban-born and former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Rene Richards believes for his home teams to be consistent, they need to change their mindset in terms of how they treat their talent and ensure that players are paid well to ensure they do not move to Gauteng for better lifestyles.
"With regards to KZN teams, I personally think that players should get looked after financially but also to make everything professional within the clubs," Richards tells the Siya crew.
"There is no doubt that talent in KZN is amazing if players are not happy, they will never get the best out of them. They need be looked after and appreciated."
