Kwanda Mngonyama says Maritzburg United were desperate for the win and deserved all three points after inflicting a 1-0 loss on Kaizer Chiefs in an Absa Premiership match on Wednesday night.
Mngonyama was awarded the Man-of-the-Match accolade for his performance in defence and admits it was not easy against the Glamour Boys.
“It was not an easy game,” said Mngonyama.
“We knew they were going to come at us, but we were also desperate for the three points and we managed to get the win.
“It is good for us and we are looking forward to the next game now with the motivation of the three points from this game.”
Mngonyama also confessed that his side worked on restricting Chiefs’ attackers’ space to make sure they caused no threat in front of goal.
“During the week we worked on that in training, that we mustn’t give them the space to allow them to play those quick passes and we managed to mark them.”
