Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Steve Komphela, has explained why Siphiwe Tshabalala was substituted in the second half against SuperSport United.
The AmaKhosi skipper bagged a brace in the first half but was substituted after 57 minutes, much to the surprise of the fans at the Mbombela Stadium.
However, Komphela has now confirmed that the midfielder had a problem with his thigh.
"Even going into the game, we had to protect Shabba, he's thigh needed some attention, our medics wrapped it and you could see as he was going on and even when he came out, I asked him can you go an extra 15 (minutes), he said 'let me keep going'
"Even when he came off, Paez could have scored as well but the guys is very intelligent. Every time we are on transition, he sees things, so you cannot fault that.
"Maybe the only thing we can say, did it affect the team, not really. What I still think we didn't do well is taking the chances on the night.
