Orlando Pirates winger, Daine Klate, says that the Buccaneers will treat their Carling Black Label Cup clash against arch-rivals, Kaizer Chiefs, as a season opener. The defending Carling Black Label Cup champions will take on Amakhosi at FNB Stadium on Saturday, July 27.
“The derby match against Chiefs is the one that we all want to play,” Klate told orlandopiratesfc.com. “A win against Chiefs is always great way to start a season because it motivates the team and it also stimulates the group as we go into the official start of the (league) season.
“Another motivation we have coming into this match is the fact that we have the chance to lift the title for the third successive time, meaning that we keep the cup,” added Klate.
Meanwhile, defender Siyabonga Sangweni joined the team on Tuesday at Rand Stadium. The Bafana Bafana defender didn’t train with the team, however, as he continues with his rehabilitation programme.
Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs will clash on July 27, with the title of 2013 Carling Black Label Cup champions up for grabs.
