Fredi Bobic, board representative for Sport at Bundesliga club VFB Stuttgart, confirmed today that Itumeleng Khune's agent has asked the German side whether his client can join them for training whilst they hold their camp in Cape Town.
"We got a request from Khune's agent whether he can come and join us for trials for one or two days," said Bobic.
The former German international told the Siya crew that Stuttgart would welcome Khune for training, but his duty with Bafana Bafana might not allow him to find the right time.
"Currently he is with the national team, so it might be difficult to find the right time."
"I heard he is a good goalkeeper and it should be interesting to compare him to our keepers."
VFB Stuttgart are currently 10th in the German Bundesliga and have conceded 31 goals this season already.
However, it would be difficult for Khune to replace Stuttgart goalkeeper, Sven Ulreich, who is a former German U21 international and came through the youth system of the Bundesliga club.
When asked whether he will watch the Bafana game on Saturday to have an eye on Khune, Bobic confirmed: "If I have the time I will go to the stadium on Saturday to watch the game, otherwise I will watch it on TV."
"We are keen to introduce him (Khune) to our goalkeeper training and would welcome him for trials, but its on him now whether he can find the right time," Bobic added.
VFB Stuttgart are being hosted at the training facilities of Ajax Cape Town and will stay in South Africa until January 16.
The Siya crew will keep you updated on the latest developments around Mzansi's number one goalkeeper.
