Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper and captain Itumeleng Khune bagged four awards at this year’s end of season PSL awards ceremony, following a stellar performance in goals for the league and cup champions.
The goalkeeper was recognised for his efforts at Gold Reef City on Sunday night, receiving the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Footballer of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Season, the Players' Player of the Season and the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament awards.
Following the event, the goalkeeper paid tribute to his teammates and the personnel at the club. He said that from the executive chairman to his teammates and the supporters, they all helped him achieve his personal success.
“God is great. He has made this possible for me. I also have to thank my family for supporting me through thick and thin. But above all I have to thank my other family, Kaizer Chiefs. They have made me what I am today.
“The chairman has always encouraged me and my goalkeeper coach has made me what I am. To my teammates, they have helped me to achieve what I have achieved. I couldn't have done it without their support.
“Together we did this and we will continue standing by each other to achieve more,” the South African international concluded.
