Khune: Nigeria Our Biggest Threat

Bafana Bafana captain and inspirational goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune, has revealed that Nigeria will be the national team's biggest threat in Group A of the Chan tournament which starts on Saturday (January 11).

Bafana begin their campaign against a largely unknown Mozambique outfit at the Cape Town Stadium. On the following Wednesday (January 15) they then take on Mali. In what could be Bafana's biggest test, Gordon Igesund's charges will then take on the mighty Super Eagles on Sunday (January 19).

Nonetheless, Khune has explained that Bafana will be well prepared no matter the threat either opponent may provide, including Nigeria.

He told Kaizer Chiefs' official website, "We know what to expect from our group opponents even though the tournament is designed to feature the locally based players. Nigeria will be the biggest threat. Most of the teams will be a closed book but we will do a thorough homework on them."

The 26-year-old also called on South African fans to come out in their numbers, "The supporters must come in their numbers. We appeal for their support and they should believe in the team. They must rally behind the squad. Saturday is the opening ceremony and the opening game. We need the 12th player on the stands, to create the vibe in the stadium. The big crowd will inspire the players to come out buzzing."

Saturday's clash with Mozambique gets underway from 18h00 in the Mother City.
