Kaizer Chiefs captain and goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune, who was substituted in their 4-1 win over Polokwane City on Wednesday night due to a strain on his hamstring, will face a late fitness test as the team travels to Free State Stars on Saturday.
Khune was replaced by Reyaad Pieterse, who made his PSL debut, with the Bafana Bafana number one coming off at half-time.
Coach Stuart Baxter told the Siya crew that the change was a precautionary measure, but they still have to monitor whether Khune will be available for Saturday.
"I think Khune will face a late fitness test looking at the injury but I think Reyaad did very well in the City game and if Khune doesn't recover in time, then we have two other goalkeepers who can come in and do the job.
"It is just a minor strain but we had to rest him because he was not feeling well. It was the same with Siphiwe Tshabalala, who got a small knock at training, and we didn't want to risk him and gave the other players the chance to play today (Wednesday).
"We will wait for Khune's doctor's report before we can say he is playing on Saturday," the former Bafana Bafana mentor concluded.
