Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune continued to scoop awards this season as he was named the club’s Player of the Season on Friday night.
Double champions Kaizer Chiefs held their annual end-of-season awards at the Vodaworld in Midrand, Johannesburg, on Friday night and Khune, who had cleaned up at the PSL awards, continued to lift personal accolades after a fantastic season.
The Executive Chairman Kaizer Motaung said that it was a great night to recap on the very interesting journey which started in July 2012.
He said it was a continued journey that started 43 years ago when the team was formed.
"For the journey to continue we had to make some changes in the technical team and brought in some new players, hence we are here today because of the commitment the players made. This was also possible because of the man who made it possible. I would like to congratulate Stuart Baxter for these achievements. We also congratulate the whole technical team and the team doctors. I would also thank the management and the marketing team and everyone at Chiefs. But credit goes to the main actors - the players. My advice is that this is just the beginning as we have to defend our trophies next season and also play in Africa. We thank all the sponsors for being with us throughout," Motaung concluded.
