Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana captain, Itumeleng Khune, is having a year of note to remember. The player is sweeping all before him when it comes to winning personal accolades for both club and country. He is also cashing in big when it comes to prize money he has been collecting.
After he led Chiefs to a league and cup double at the end of the 2012/13 season, Khune scooped R575 000 in prize money when he won the PSL Players' Player of the Season, PSL Footballer of the Season, PSL Goalkeeper of the Season and Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament.
He also swept all before him at Chiefs' end-of-season awards ceremony where he won a further R160 000 and a Nissan Juke valued at around R330 000.
The 26-year-old has continued to reap the rewards for his good performances when he won a further R1million, after he was named SA Sports Star of the Year recently. He also collected a brand new BMW One series valued at close to R500 000.
This means that in the last calendar year, Amakhosi's number one has won close to three million rand in prize money (including the value of the Nissan Juke and BMW). It's been an impressive return for a player who is arguably in some of the best form of his still relatively young career up to now.
