For the first time in close to a decade, Bafana Bafana have qualified for the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations.
On Saturday South Africa will face one of Africa's footballing power-houses, in Mali, who have never won the trophy before and are out to go all thew way. With a semi-final berth at stake in the 2013 Afcon, Bafana will have to be at their best against the West Africans.
Mali, who are ranked third in Africa, will be confident going into the game against the host nation, who are ranked 22nd in comparison, however captain Bongani Khumalo says that they are ready for the clash.
He said that the players are determined to go all the way, and with the home support, it will be difficult to bet against the captain and his troops.
"We are ready for this game. We have been ready since the tournament started because we knew we would be meeting such teams if we are to progress. We have done very well in the group stages and we will continue with the same fighting spirit until the end.
“The morale in the team is high and we are all focused on the next game. We are taking it one game at a time until the final," Khumalo concluded.
