Bafana Bafana take on Norway in an international friendly at the Cape Town Stadium tonight, in what will be the national team’s first outing of 2013.
The national team will play the game in preparation of the 2013 African Cup of Nations as the host nation, with South Africa opening the continental showpiece against Cape Verde on January 19.
Bafana captain, Bongani Khumalo, is confident that the current crop of players under coach Gordon Igesund have got the quality to get the job done. He believes that the team will perform against Norway and in the upcoming Afcon.
The former SuperSport United defender told the Siya crew that the team will play for a win tonight, against the Norwegians.
“First and foremost you know It is a great honour representing your country in such a prestigious tournament and we have to show that we are happy that we are representing our country.
“The competition for places is stiff because we all want to be in the starting line-up and that makes us confident going into the game tonight. In the tournament we want to leave our mark as a new generation and we believe we have the ability to do that.
“The boys are eager to work even harder. And that's where the confidence comes from. As for tonight we are confident we will win as we all want to win,” the Greece-based Khumalo concluded.
