EPL Star’s World Record Stolen By South African

Theo Walcott used to be able to say that he was a Guinness World Record holder for his first touch, but that title has now been stolen from him by a South African.

Khris Njokwana, a well-known freestyle footballer in Mzansi, took on the challenge with the help of Heineken.

Out at Johannesburg Stadium over the weekend, a crane dropped a ball from a height of 37.4m, with the Capetonian controlling the ball before making a minimum of five touches (as per the rules) before it touched the ground.

It took him three attempts, failing on the first two, but Njokwana’s new record beat the Everton and England international by 3.4m as he wrote his name into the record books.

Speaking to the Siya crew this week, the freestyler said, “I’m very proud of myself firstly and proud to be a South African. It was a hectic period trying to prepare for the feat as it was difficult to predict where and how the ball will drop. To be number 1 in the world, and beating a world-renowned player of Theo Walcott’s stature, is a blessing in itself. Thank you to Heineken for showing faith in me.”
