THE BREAKDOWN: Can Billiat Make It In Europe?
Khama Billiat Moving To Turkey?
With another European club possibly linked with Khama Billiat, we take a look at whether he has what it takes to follow a successful career.
In Soccer Laduma issue number 1042 the Siya crew revealed that Billiat has caught the eye of Turkish outfit Atiker Konyaspor, the same club that Lebogang Manyama joined in the July/August transfer window. Billiat could be competing with players that play in similar positions to him, including the likes of Manyama himself, Omer Ali Sahiner, Musa Araz and Moryké Fofana, who all occupy positions as attacking midfielders and/or wingers in the team.
Click through the images above to see what Billiat’s stats look like compared to his would-be competition at Konyaspor.
Both Billiat and Manyama have played just one and two league games, respectively this season, meaning that their results do not necessarily reflect their abilities. Furthermore, the season remains in its opening stages for all of the players in question and the discrepancy between the playing environments in South Africa and Turkey also plays a factor in what the stats do tell us.
However, with that said, it would seem that Manyama is unparalleled in terms of the quantity of his passes, owing to the fact that he is playing closer to the middle of the park. However, Billiat is above the standards set by the rest of his would-be competition and has, by far, the highest pass success rate. Billiat, along with Manyama, also leads the charts for crosses, while he’s the outright leader for shots and shot assists.
However, his shooting accuracy was poor in his solitary league game against SuperSport United. Furthermore, Billiat is the best dribbler out of the group, although he does need to work on what little work he’s done in terms of challenging for the ball in the air.
In closing, Billiat has shown, even in just a single game that he has the ability to attack the box and set up his teammates, as he did when grabbing two assists against SuperSport United. He has the creativity to drop back into the middle of the park and bring play forward into the final third, he is capable of delivering from the wings and cutting inside to be a threat on his own.
Therefore, should he be able to adapt to the environment in Turkey, it would appear that Billiat has everything it takes to take Europe by storm.
Do you think Khama Billiat can be a success if he is to move to Turkey?
