Cape Town City have announced that they are set to unveil their signing of the season today, August 11, and the rumour mill has been fueled with talk about Khama Billiat possibly being unveiled by the Mother City-based club.

City have made five new signings ahead of the 2017/18 campaign, acquiring the services of the likes of Teko Modise and Ayanda Patosi to bolster Head Coach Benni McCarthy’s squad.

It seems that City are not yet done making the necessary changes and adjustments to the club, after they’ve announced in a press-release yesterday that the club is set to unveil their signing of the season today.

“CAPE TOWN CITY FC – SIGNING ALERT! PRESS CONFERENCE

Dear media colleagues,

We hereby invite you to join us at our Press Conference tomorrow, 11 August 2017

from 12pm at Cape Town Stadium – as we unveil the signing of the season!” City revealed in a press-release.

Upon hearing the announcement, there have been escalating rumours about City unveiling a player today, with Billiat’s name being heavily linked to the club.

However, it seems highly unlikely that the player will be unveiled at City today, after Billiat took to his official Instagram account and uploaded a clip of himself in training with Masandawana in the gym.

There has been growing speculation about Billiat’s future with Sundowns after it was revealed that the player has still not put pen to paper on the new deal tabled by Masandawana.

Siya sources have since indicated that the player is unhappy with the terms of his new deal, hence the delay in committing his future to the Chloorkop-based club. However, the attacker still has one more year left on his existing contract with Sundowns.

Billiat has been linked to several clubs abroad with Saudi Arabian-outfit, Al Nassr FC, recently pulling the plug on their attempts to sign the Zimbabwean international.

Now, it remains to be seen who or what City will be unveiling today, although at this point it is unlikely that it would be the Sundowns attacker.

The signing has been unveiled, it's a sponsorship for the club. It would've been nice for it to be a player though. The much needed financial muscle will get them to compete accordingly.

Cape Town City boss John Comitis has hailed the club's four-year sponsorship deal with sports betting platform SportPresa. City announced the news at a press conference at Cape Town Stadium on Friday. "This is a first ever in South Africa again, we pride ourselves on doing things for the first time," Comitis said. "It is exciting times for the club. Sponsors like SportPresa are enablers. They enable clubs like Hull and Everton.
