Billiat Could Face Chiefs, Castro Handed Another Setback
Khama Billiat could make his return for Mamelodi Sundowns against Kaizer Chiefs this weekend, but Pitso Mosimane will only know for sure tomorrow.
The Zimbabwean talisman hasn’t played at all in March as he nurses a knock that he picked up against Platinum Stars, and the club have felt his absence having failed to score in their last three Absa Premiership games.
However, the 26-year-old returned to full training this week and may be fit to start against Steve Komphela’s side at FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.
Speaking to the media yesterday about his injury problems, Mosimane explained that Billiat isn’t his only concern. He said, “I can only declare if Khama is fit on Friday, but he’s training. He had a full training session on Wednesday, but being pain free doesn’t mean that your body is ok. Denis is also training, but I’ll wait for Wendell (Robinson) to tell me if he’s back.
“We lost Leo (Castro) yesterday with an ankle, we lost (Asavela) Mbekile last week with a toe. We lost Wayne Arendse as you know. Hopefully we can get Khama and Denis, that’ll be a big boost. We’ll try and put our best possible players on the pitch.”
Sundowns take on Chiefs at 20h15 on Saturday night.
