The Glamour Boys won the tournament thanks to a penalty shootout victory over Free State Stars, with the game ending 1-1 after 90 minutes following goals from Leonardo Castro and Eleazar Rodgers.
Chiefs managed to get past Buya Msuthu in the first game with goals from Bernard Parker and young Yusuf Bunting as another starlet, Given Thibedi, was also handed a start by interim head coach, Patrick Mabedi.
Steve Komphela’s successor, Giovanni Solinas, was present for the games in the North West as he looked to get a look at his new troops, and will have been happy to see the likes of Billiat, Virgil Vries, Kabelo Mahlasela – though he was signed back in January – and Letlhogonolo Mirwa all given their first appearances for the club.
Their new Zimbabwean sensation even got an assist as he donned the club’s colours for the first time, setting up Leonard Castro for the opening goal prior to the penalty shootout.
