Thobejane Rues Chiefs Defeat
Kgoloko Thobejane Rues Kaizer Chiefs Defeat
Baroka FC coach Kgoloko Thobejane was left disappointed after they let a 1-0 lead slip to go down 2-1 to Kaizer Chiefs in the Absa Premiership.
After taking the lead through Lucky Nguzana, Bakgaga Ba Ga Mphahlele surrendered it immediately after the break when Ryan Moon caught them napping to equalise.
Another defensive blunder late on in the game contributed to them conceding the second that ensured their first-ever defeat against the Amakhosi, but the latter should’ve been out of sight in the first half.
“We started very well. We should’ve killed the game in the first half. We got decisive scoring chances, but didn’t convert. It’s the name of the game," Thobejane told SuperSport after the game.
“We came into the second half and they scored within a minute. So my defenders were caught sleeping when the ball went into the box and was headed by Moon.
“Even with the second goal, my defender tried to clear the ball only to find him playing it into the path of a Chiefs player. It’s one of those moments in football where others will be crying and others laughing,” he said post-match.
The defeat is their first ever to the Amakhosi in five attempts, having had the better of them in two previous occasions in all competitions.
