Nigeria had a sluggish start to their 2013 Africa Cup of Nations campaign, however have made it to the final while proving their critics wrong. The team’s confidence has grown from game-to-game en route to the final, which included the elimination of pre-tournament favourites, the Ivory Coast.
Steven Keshi, the Super Eagles’ head coach, says they have nothing to prove. He told the Siya crew that they want to repay their loyal fans who have supported team through thick and thin.
“At the start of the tournament no one gave us a chance. Even at home, no one gave us a chance, but the players outdid themselves to be where we are today. So after all the good run in the group stages, and the quarter and semi-finals,we have nothing to prove.
“The players are relaxed and they just want to go out there enjoy themselves and lift the trophy with no pressure on their shoulders," Keshi concluded.
