Despite the withdrawal of Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa from the Bafana Bafana team, KV Kortrijk shot-stopper, Darren Keet, has not received a call-up.
Speaking to the Siya crew yesterday Keet explained that he was eager to get a look in with the national team following his fine form in Europe over the past two seasons.
Story: Keet: I Deserve A Call Up
With Meyiwa and five other Pirates players pulling out of the squad, it was thought that the 23-year-old would finally get his chance to make the Bafana cut, although Gordon Igesund instead called up just two players, Bennett Chenene and David Mathebula from SuperSport United.
It is known that Igesund was keen to use Keet during the recent COSAFA Cup, although with it being a non-FIFA date, his club in Belgium were under no obligation to release him, likewise with the game against Burkina Faso later this month.
However, had Igesund called Keet up to take part in the Nigeria game on August 14, which is a FIFA date, Kortrijk would have had no choice but to allow him to play.
