Former Jomo Cosmos midfielder, Sipho Sephadi, says the Nedbank Ke Yona team that is set to face Kaizer Chiefs next year, is going to give the Amakhosi a tough time.
During last season’s Nedbank Cup, a talent search was launched, which culminated in 23 young players from different provinces being selected for the final team to play against Chiefs, who won the competition after beating SuperSport United in the final.
Well-known and experienced coaches like Khabo Zondo, Owen da Gama, Shakes Mashaba and Mike Mangena have been hard at work taking the youngsters through their paces, with Sephadi working as a part-time coach on the project. Sephadi says he has been impressed with what he has seen so far.
He told the Siya crew, “There are some quite good guys there. Most of them are ready to play in the PSL. The only problem may perhaps be that they are raw, having come straight from the amateur ranks and are lacking in certain aspects. With the coaching staff that they have, I’m telling you, they are going to give Chiefs a run for their money. We are helping them a lot.”
The game is set to take place at the beginning of this season’s Nedbank Cup, which is likely to be in February next year.
