ABSA Premiership
Result: Wits 1-1 AmaZulu
Date: 17 September 2013
Venue: Bidvest Stadium
Nkosinathi Mthiyane’s 62 minute header seemed set to give AmaZulu all three points away to Wits, and take them temporarily to the top of the Absa Premier League table, until a goalkeeping blunder by goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini gifted Getaneh Kedebe a simple tap-in to share the spoils at Bidvest Stadium.
Fans had to wait till after the 90 minutes for the match to spark into action, with Kofi Dankwa given his marching orders before Kapini’s last minute error cost Usuthu a win keeping Wit’s unbeaten run intact.
After a cagey first-half where both goalkeepers seemed to be on vacation, the best chance of the opening 45 minutes belonged to Wits’ Zimbabwean veteran striker Benjani, missing a close range chance for the home side.
Both teams came into this game off the back of 1-0 victories and were looking to consolidate their positions in the top half of the table and this showed in the first-half with the amount of respect shown to one another.
Gavin Hunt will be a relieved man after the Clever Boys unbeaten start to the season remained intact, however fortunate the result against Usuthu.
