Kaizer Chiefs have announced the retirement of Kaizer Motaung Junior today, while new signing, Katlego Mphela, has being given the number 37 jersey.
It was finally revealed last week that Mphela, who had previously agreed a pre-contract with the Amakhosi, had joined them on a six-month loan from Mamelodi Sundowns after the two clubs managed to agree terms late into the January transfer window.
The Siya crew also recently reported that Motaung was set to hang up his boots, with niggling injuries beginning to blight his career.
Chiefs made the announcement today, with the sad news that Motaung Junior, who will continue studying for his degree, has indeed retired from the game, coinciding with the announcement that ‘Killer’ will wear number 37 during his first season at the club.
Mphela, 29, could possibly make his Amakhosi debut on Wednesday night when his new side take on his former one, SuperSport United, at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
