Amakhosi Teen Heads Back To School!
Kaizer Chiefs’ Wiseman Meyiwa may have broken into the Amakhosi first team this year, but that doesn’t mean that he’s decided to stop educating himself.
The 18-year-old was given his debut by Steve Komphela earlier this season following a spate of injuries and went on to make 14 Absa Premiership appearances before later being handed his Bafana Bafana debut.
Now, during Youth Month, the youngster has revealed that he’s going to college shortly to study a Sports Management course, as he seemingly plans for life after football despite his young age.
He told the club’s official website, “I want to encourage the youth to study hard and remain focused. When you play sport don’t give up studying, continue to balance school and sport to prepare for a better future.
“Life is a journey. It becomes difficult if you lose focus… My mom always encourages me to work hard. So far so good, I can see light at the end of the tunnel. I am going to college after June and am looking to register for a Sports Management course.
“I just wish that more youth would support the team. I can’t wait to get back into the field in Gold & Black. I’m encouraging the youth to attend matches in numbers. Sport offers youth an opportunity to exercise their talents and stay away from wrongdoing.”
Chiefs fans will be eager to see more of Meyiwa in 2018/19, no doubt keen to see him form a backbone of the team in years to come.
