Toothless Amakhosi To Set New Club Record

Unless Kaizer Chiefs can score eight goals against Ajax Cape Town next Saturday, this group of players will set a new club record for least goals scored in a 30-game season.
The Glamour Boys have struggled up front in the current campaign, banking on their strong defence to make sure that they’re still on course to finish third and land a CAF Confederation Cup spot.
With just one game to go the Amakhosi have just 25 goals to their name in the Absa Premiership – only SuperSport United and relegated Platinum Stars have scored less – and fans watching their games have only seen a total of 46 all season given their tight backline.
Now, as they go into the clash with Ajax, Patrick Mabedi and his troops have to come to terms with the fact that they’re about to set an unwanted record.
Chiefs’ goal tally in the past 15 seasons:
2002/03 - 42
2003/04 - 39
2004/05 - 55
2005/06 - 39
2006/07 - 42
2007/08 - 32
2008/09 - 37
2009/10 - 39
2010/11 - 45
2011/12 - 35
2012/13 - 48
2013/14 - 43
2014/15 - 41
2015/16 - 38
2016/17 - 39
2017/18 - 25
The club’s top scorers in the league this season, Ryan Moon and Gustavo Paez, have just four goals each, and their lack of goals will certainly be something that management will want to remedy in the upcoming off-season.
Do you think this is one of Chiefs’ worst seasons ever?
