Chiefs’ Komphela Clings To Title Hopes
They may be some way from Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the Absa Premiership table, but Steve Komphela says Kaizer Chiefs aren’t giving up.
With 10 games left to play, the Amakhosi are seven points behind Sundowns, and it seems likely that they will once again miss out on the league title.
However, Komphela isn’t throwing in the towel, as he believes that it’s not over for them just yet.
He told the club’s official website this week, “The league is very competitive... It’s not going to be easy, but the challenge for the league title is not over as yet. It’s going to be very tight and interesting.”
Meanwhile, he also hailed the return of Bernard Parker, who made a goalscoring return to action in the Nedbank Cup.
He said, “I was happy to have Bernard back in the squad because he’s highly experienced and has football brains. We all benefit from that.”
Chiefs face Cape Town City in a must-win encounter on February 17th, with both sides keen to try and keep up the pace on Masandawana.
