Chiefs Promise 'Complete Overhaul' Amid Komphela Exit Rumours

Kaizer Chiefs Say They Will Be Making A 'Complete Overhaul'

By Soccer Laduma - Apr 10, 2018 05:23 PM
Kaizer Chiefs have promised a 'complete overhaul of the team' before the start of the new season, admitting that the season has not been up to standard.
Chiefs are under pressure at the minute after suffering their worst Absa Premiership since 2009, with Chippa United beating them 3-0 in the league for the first time since Santos managed it nearly a decade ago.
Pressure has been heaping on Steve Komphela after almost three years without a trophy, with matters reaching a head over the weekend when the players and technical team were attacked by fans after the final whistle.
Now, with four games left to play and only the Nedbank Cup realistically in reach, the club have issued a strong statement where they appealed for calm from the Amakhosi faithful. They also confirmed that no changes will be made immediatley, seemingly backing Komphela until at least the end of the season.
The statement in full read as follows:
Following last weekend’s result at FNB Stadium, Kaizer Chiefs Football Manager, technical team and players met on Sunday morning after the game to review the incidents and results of Saturday afternoon. The meeting lasted for five hours.
They reflected on the performances of the season and acknowledged that the season has not been up to the Kaizer Chiefs standards.
Following that meeting, the management team met to further discuss and review the matter holistically and plan for the next few games of the current season.
During the review, we noted that we bolstered the team and brought some good players, but things have not gone our way.
It is important for our supporters to note that as management, we are listening to their concerns and share the pain.
One of the notable decisions from the meeting is that decisive changes will have to be implemented at the end of the season to remedy the situation. At this stage, circumstances do not permit for us to make immediate changes. However, we are looking to have a complete overhaul of the team before the commencement of the new season.
In as far as Saturday’s event goes, we met with Stadium Management South Africa (SMSA) and relevant stakeholders that were involved in the organisation of the event to review all matters relating to the match.
In the interim, we appeal to the supporters for calm and patience as there is still a lot to play for in the league and the Nedbank Cup.  We believe that there is a lot to fight for as the team is in the semifinal of the Nedbank Cup and there is a possibility of qualification for one of the continental competitions.
Regardless of how dire the situation is, in the next few weeks, we sincerely appeal for calm, patience and good behaviour from supporters. We have to avoid endangering other supporters’ lives and the team.
As we move to the last few matches of the current season, we really need your undivided support and assure you that decisive changes will happen before the new season to remedy the situation.

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says his Kaizer Chiefs counterpart Steve Komphela has handled his latest challenges at the club with maturity and bravery. Beleaguered Komphela was pelted with missiles‚ together with his players‚ when they left the field after Saturday’s embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Chippa United at FNB Stadium which effectively ruled Amakhosi out of the running for the league championship. “These things do happen‚" Mosimane said. "Steve is more matured and I would say he has been experiencing hard times for a long time at Chiefs. "Mine was for about a day or two but for him it is not the first time. "The guy is mentally strong and he is emotionally in the right place.” Mosimane said Komphela could have taken the easy way out by blaming others. But the embattled Chiefs coach has decided to face the music and accept the responsibility of protecting the players and some members of the management. “He takes the blame and he even protects football manager Bobby Motaung and for that I take my hat off for him‚" Mosimane said. "It is easy for a coach to say 'look at the players I am working with'. "Some other coaches even say 'look at the talent I have' but he (Komphela) is at another level. "In fact‚ I take lessons from him to say if I ever find myself in the same position how would I handle the situation? "He has handled the situation very well.”

@SL_hated_donkey- those are geeat players except for Ecstein. They play with natural talent. They are not helped by " holy waters and vaseline". The team from the North in the CAF mentioned that too regarding the unbelievable two own goals they suffered. Its not bad kangako at Chiefs. The change of coach will bring desired results.
