Motaung: They Are Our Focal Point…
Kaizer Chiefs Say That Youth Is Their Focal Point
Kaizer Motaung says that youth are Kaizer Chiefs’ focal point, and has praised the milestones that they set within their youth ranks.
The Amakhosi have not won a trophy for three years in a row now – the longest drought in their history – but did manage to clinch the Multichoice Diski Shield earlier this year.
Now, with the club celebrating Youth Month, their chairman has explained that they are pleased with Chiefs' reserve team, with the likes of Wiseman Meyiwa, Siyabonga Ngezana, Bruce Bvuma, Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya and Emmanuel Letlotlo having made the step up to the senior team in recent years.
Motaung told the club’s official website, “At Chiefs, youth (is) our focal point… For example, the journey to develop our youth academy is ongoing. We have already seen the fruits with players coming through and gaining promotion to the first team.
“Also, we have started recording milestones with our youth teams, like the Reserve Team winning the inaugural MultiChoice Diski Shield.”
Chiefs are back for pre-season on June 25th, although have still not appointed a new head coach for the season.
