“Fetching Them From Chloorkop? It’s Not Me!”
Ramahlwe Mphahlele is happy to have some of his former Mamelodi Sundowns teammates now at Kaizer Chiefs with him, joking that Masandawana fans think he’s fetching them from Chloorkop.
The defender joined Chiefs from Sundowns back in 2016 when he left the Brazilians at the end of his contract, and has since been joined by the likes of Khama Billiat, Leonardo Castro and another former Sundowns reserve player, Letlhogonolo Mirwa.
Now, with the Glamour Boys looking to bring to an end a three-year trophy drought under new head coach, Giovanni Solinas, the 28-year-old has laughed off the reunion of Sundowns stars at Naturena.
Speaking to the media this week, the full back said, “By the way… Sundowns fans think that I’m the one who is fetching them from Chloorkop. Guys it is not me‚ it is football.
"Players move when they feel they want to move and it is good for football you know. They have had players from Kaizer Chiefs and Kaizer Chiefs have had players from Mamelodi Sundowns.”
Meanwhile, on a similar topic, when asked about reuniting with Billiat at the club, ‘Rama’ replied, “I’m happy to have Khama, he’s a very good player and I just hope that he comes in and he helps us… To our fans, we mustn’t put pressure on him to say, ‘We have Khama now, everything’s going to be okay’ - no. We need to work together as a team to win. Any coach and any team would love to have him, so we’re very happy to have Khama.”
