Chiefs Player Ratings v Hoffenheim

Soccer Laduma rates the individual performances of the Kaizer Chiefs players, following their 1-0 loss to Hoffenheim.

Here are the ratings:

Itumeleng Khune: 6

Looked assured on his return to the side, but was hardly tested and was substitute in the 55th minute.

Siboniso Gaxa: 6

Steady performance on the right flank but was replaced at the start of the second half.

Morgan Gould: 6

Gould put in a solid shift in the heart of the Chiefs defence and frustrated the Hoffenheim strikers.

Tefu Mashamaite: 6

Another consistent performance from the central defender, along with Gould, he was solid, most notably in the aerial duels.

Siphiwe Mtsweni: 6

A solid showing from the left fullback in the first half but was replace at halftime.

Matthew Rusike: 6

Started off slowly but had a bit of joy down the right flank, although the final ball did let him down on a few occasions.

Ivan Bukenya: 6

Proving to a capable replacement for the injured Willard Katsande in the middle of the mark, composed on the ball and made a few hard challenges as well.

George Maluleka: 5

Didn't see much of his attacking due to Hoffenheim's domination and was replaced in the 76th minute.

George Lebese: 6

Proved to a tricky customer for Hoffenheim's Andreas Beck on a few occasions but the final ball also let him down.

Siphiwe Tshabalala: 5

Similar to Maluleka, Tshabalala was often chasing shadows for large pats of the game due to the visitors' dominance with possession.

Siphelele Mthembu: 5

Given a rare start with Bernard Parker away with Bafana and Kingston Nkhatha leaving the club but failed to impress and was subbed in the 73rd minute.

Substitutes:

Rieyaad Pieterse: 5

Replaced Khune in the 55th minute, was hardly tested but could do nothing about Anthony Modeste's volley.

Levy Mokgothu: 6

Mokgothu replaced Mtsweni at the start of the second half, and held his own on the left flank.

Kgotso Moleko: 5

Not the best of Cameos for the Chiefs fullback and was caught ball-watching on a couple occasions.

Ovidy Karuru: NA

Was not on the field long enough to receive a rating.

Siyabonga Nkosi: NA

Was not on the field long enough to receive a rating.

Katlego Mphela: NA

Was not on the field long enough to receive a rating.
