Mabedi’s Thoughts On Chiefs’ Ajax Crunch Game
Kaizer Chiefs' Patrick Mabedi Is Wary Of Ajax Cape Town
Patrick Mabedi is preparing to face a desperate Ajax Cape Town in the final game of the season, with Kaizer Chiefs eager to secure third spot in the Absa Premiership.
Chiefs picked up an impressive victory over Maritzburg United on the weekend as Gustavo Paez and Dumisani Zuma found the back of the net to secure the 2-0 win that saw them leapfrog the Team of Choice into the CAF Confederation Cup spot.
Now, with just one game left to play, the Amakhosi will clinch a spot in continental competition should they beat the Urban Warriors on May 12th, something that Mabedi is looking forward to achieve.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the former Chiefs player and current interim head coach said, “The win against Maritzburg will give us confidence going into the Ajax game… It’s our objective to fight for third position and qualifying for the African Confederation Cup.
“Ajax have a good side and they are fighting to survive relegation. We will plan to go out there, be professional and do our job. It will be a tough game, but we are definitely eying third spot.”
Chiefs will finish under the 50-point mark for just the second time in the last 10 seasons this year – the other time was in Steve Komphela’s first season – but if they can secure third spot then it will be their highest finish since winning the Absa Premiership back in 2015.
