Wits Man 'Happy' Amid Chiefs, Pirates Interest
James Keene's future with Bidvest Wits remains up in the air at present as his contract draws to an end, but Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates could be lying in wait.
The 31-year-old has bagged eight goals in 18 ABSA Premiership games since making the move to South Africa, and will not be short of potential suitors should the decision be made for him to leave Braamfontein at the end of the campaign.
Wits do have an option to extend Keene's deal with them, an option the Clever Boys have until the end of May to exercise, although, at this point, there have been no indications of whether or not that will happen.
As reported in the latest edition of Soccer Laduma, issue 1023, the Siya crew has been informed that both Soweto giants are keeping tabs on Keene's situation, and could be tempted to make a move should he become available.
The player, however, has insisted he is eager to stay on with the title hopefuls next year, saying: "I'm happy at the club and am hopeful of staying here, but I'm not really talking about the future right now because I'm fully focused on my football, and helping Wits try and win the league title."
