After getting five goals in his last five games, now it’s Kaizer Chiefs’ turn to worry about how to stop one of the most in-form attackers in the Absa Premiership…
Thabiso Kutumela is flying for Maritzburg United at present as he repays the faith shown in him by Eric Tinkler, taking his opportunities on the field whether he’s handed a starting berth or not.
The 26-year-old got his latest goal as he helped his side get a big away win over title-chasing Bidvest Wits, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win that saw them reach the vital 30-point mark, overtaking their tally from the 2018/19 season (27 points) with nine games left to go.
As quoted by the club’s official website, Tinkler said, “Kutu has been absolutely fantastic this season. And yet I used to start him on the bench… And that’s a positive, he’s become more of a team player, and because of that it’s made him a better player and I’m happy for him because he’s put in a lot of hard work.
“He continues to support the team even when he’s not in the starting line-up. He understands the reasons behind it and its been about him looking after himself and having a positive attitude. For that he then reaps these types of rewards.”
Now Tinkler will be focusing his attentions on making sure that his team are properly prepared to face the league leaders on Saturday afternoon as they look to climb even further up the log.
