Shabba? Parker? Chiefs Aging Stars Lead The Way
Kaizer Chiefs need to start putting some faith in their younger players if they’re to turn around their fortunes, although Siphiwe Tshabalala and Bernard Parker were their most influential players last season.
‘Shabba’ directly contributed to more goals and assists (14) last season than any other player in the side as he played 38 games in all competitions, while Parker got nine from 32 games having spent quite a bit of time on the bench.
While the duo are 33 and 32 respectively, one of the other most influential players was young Ryan Moon, a player who got six direct contributions over 18 games, the same amount as George Maluleka, though third place went to Joseph Molangoane (seven).
Chiefs also had nine players who didn’t contribute a single goal or assist throughout the course of the 2017/18 league or cup competitions, something that the new head coach – whoever it may be – will be eager to try and rectify.
Who do you think was Chiefs’ most influential player this past season?
