Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns will take up the mantle in place of a pre-season Soweto Derby next season, with a brand new trophy up for grabs.

The Carling Black Label Cup will not be played due to the World Cup in 2018, however, the Amakhosi and Masandawana have confirmed that they will go head-to-head with each before the 2018/19 campaign gets underway.
It was revealed on Monday night that a three-year deal has been agreed prior to the first game being played on July 21st at FNB Stadium, with the two clubs battling it out for the new Shell Helix Ultra Cup trophy.
A statement released yesterday said, “Stadium Management SA (SMSA) is pleased to announce a new annual pre-season fixture on the domestic football calendar, which will see South Africa’s top teams go head-to-head for bragging rights at the Shell Helix Ultra Cup.
“The event Rights Holders are Stadium Management South Africa while the fixture itself will be sponsored by Shell Downstream SA and forms part of a three-year agreement between the two parties.”
