Kaizer Chiefs made plenty of signings during Steve Komphela’s reign as the club’s head coach, but several of them never even got off the ground at Naturena.

Komphela vacated his position with the Glamour Boys over the weekend following the 2-0 Nedbank Cup defeat to Free State Stars and the violence that followed, with Bobby Motaung announcing that he was leaving with immediate effect.
Following the resignation of head coach Steve Komphela, Kaizer Chiefs have decided that Patrick Mabedi will take charge of the first team for the remainder of the 2017/2018 season," read a statement from the club on Monday.
While there have been a handful of successful signings by Chiefs in recent years, there are many who failed to make the grade and some who left without even getting the chance to make their club debut.
The likes of Sula Matovu, Bongani Ndulula, Keegan Ritchie, Lewis Macha, Keagan Buchanan and Siyanda Xulu were all signed with Komphela at the helm but each failed to make more than 10 Absa Premiership appearances, with all but Buchanan having subsequently left Naturena.
Meanwhile, Enocent Mkhabela joined Chiefs only to leave for Platinum Stars without getting the chance to don the famous gold and black in a single competitive fixture.
In total, 26 players were signed by Chiefs during Komphela’s time at the club, but only a handful of them have gone on to make any real positive impact at the club.
