Kaizer Chiefs have had a problem in front of goal this season, a problem that Steve Komphela has often spoken about, and it means that their top scorer has only five goals in all competitions.

The Amakhosi are currently fifth in the Absa Premiership and into the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup, but only Platinum Stars (15) have scored fewer goals than them (20) in the league.
Only Siphiwe Tshabalala has directly contributed to more than 10 goals this season in all competitions (four goals and eight assists), and Ryan Moon is their top scorer with just five goals to his name.
‘Shabba’ and Bernard Parker follow Moon with four goals across all competitions each, while Leonardo Castro, Gustavo Paez and Erick Mathoho have three to their name. Only 12 players in their entire squad have managed to find the back of the net at all.
What will be most worrying for Steve Komphela is that this problem isn’t a new one for the Glamour Boys, with no player reaching double figures since Knowledge Musona (15) and Parker (11) in 2013/14.
Chiefs take on Free State Stars this weekend as they look to keep up their slim hopes of catching Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the table, but will certainly need to bring an end to their strike problems if they’re going to do so.
