Kaizer Chiefs’ Free Flops: Transfers That Went Wrong

Kaizer Chiefs Have Made Some Very Unsuccessful Signings In Recent Years

Kaizer Chiefs could have a busy January transfer window on the horizon if they wish to try and turn around their fortunes, but they don’t have the best record in the market of late.

See where the 11 players are now by checking the gallery above

The Siya crew took a look at 11 players who have joined the Amakhosi – and left already, since the start of the 2014/15 Absa Premiership season, and it doesn’t make for pretty viewing given the fact that none were able to make an impact at Naturena.

With a total of 50 Absa Premiership starts between them – 28 for two of them, the following group of players were definitely signings that the Glamour Boys got wrong as they looked to try and stay competitive.

Enocent Mkhabela
Mkhabela never even got to make his debut for the club, joining on a free transfer after being released from SuperSport United. He’s now at Platinum Stars.

Michelle Katsvairo
Katsvairo hasn’t completely lost his chance yet – he’s on loan in Tanzania with Singida United, but he fell off the radar midway through his first season at the club.

Lewis Macha
Macha already has as many Absa Premiership starts – and more goals, in his short time with Baroka than he got during a very unsuccessful year with the Amakhosi.

Camaldine Abraw
A player whose time was ruined by injury after a relatively decent start. He scored six goals in all competitions but was released earlier this year.

Siyanda Xulu
Came in as a marquee signing after leaving FC Rostov in Russia, but was never really given a chance by Steve Komphela and ended up with only six league starts before negotiating the termination of his contract.

Bongani Ndulula
With no league starts and no goals, ‘Drogba’ left Chiefs without making any sort of impact at the club and is still looking for a PSL club after falling off the radar following his exit.

Sula Matovu
The Ugandan came in with a bit of fanfare as he was touted as an exciting player, but he was released after just one season with just one league start to his name.

Siphelele Mthembu
Despite being at the club for three seasons, Mthembu ended up moving on for free having started just four league games and scoring six goals in 41 matches in all competitions.

Ovidy Karuru
Now with AmaZulu, the Zimbabwean failed to make a single league start for Chiefs during his time there, and left before he was able to leave his mark.

Levy Mokgothu
Mokgothu was brought in in 2014 from Moroka Swallows but left two years later when his contract expired without ever kicking a ball in a game. He never got his debut.

Ivan Bukenya
Bukenya was used relatively regularly as a way of sealing the deal in tight games, but he got only 11 league starts during his three seasons there and left for free at the start of last season.

What position do you think Kaizer Chiefs need to bolster in January?

@Vhivha ...For your Dove knowledge, it is quite appalling that you ask a question"Who really owns this franchise Sundowns?....and answered yourself again!" Motsepe! By the way...Well done on that one...problem is you are bitter, angry that Chiefs has a Macufe star, afraid that your team is not on a good space to face Sundowns...and the fact that you are PREGNANT!....LOL!

@Diski-nine-nine! Who really owns this franchise called Sundowns? The franchise history spanned from Mahobe who was later arrested for robbing the bank with a group of sundowns players, the franchise was taken over by Chiklases who also bankrupted this club, Motsepe stepped in and one thing for sure he will soon sell this franchise because i do not see any championship going to Sundowns this year, and Motsepe will be running his business at a very big loss? Mr Goldfinger and Mambush knows the truth.

If any coach considers Siphelele Mthembu good enough to play for Chiefs, then he is not a coach. Ag man...a striker sprinting with his heels instead of first half of his feet...my goodness. He will not even qualify to play for Xoboxobo village.

@Vhivha shem your an emotional freek, this is about Chiefs and Buccanan and not about Mushin,Pitso & Patrice.. And where did you see fans attacking a coach with pangas,it's painful what you & your fellow fans cos of your useless Bobby and it will pass. For now wena all you can do just support the team and stop being their spoke person.
