Chiefs Confirm Itu Return, Striker Available
Kaizer Chiefs Have Itumeleng Khune & Ryan Moon Back
Kaizer Chiefs confirmed that their captain, Itumeleng Khune has recovered from a chest infection, while their attack has also received a welcome boost this week.
The Siya crew reported on Monday that the 30-year-old shot-stopper was back in full training after a nasty chest infection kept him out for both club and country, although he’s now ‘raring to go’ after being given the all clear.
Khune’s return is some good news amid a minor injury crisis at the club, with Steve Komphela being left with only two senior centre backs going into this week’s clash with Cape Town City.
Erick Mathoho is suspended, while Teenage Hadebe is injured and potential stand-in central defender, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, has been ruled out for the rest of the year.
Khune, however, should go some way in shoring up the club’s backline as they go in search of their first win of the season, while Ryan Moon returns from a knee injury to boost their attack.
The club said in a statement this week:
Ryan Moon has recovered from the knee injury. Moon was injured at the Bafana Bafana camp three weeks ago and is expected to resume full training this week.
Itumeleng Khune has recovered from his chest infection. The skipper started full training last Friday and is raring to go.
Chiefs face City on Wednesday evening.
