It was confirmed this morning that Erick Mathoho, who was injured while at the Olympics with South Africa’s U23s, had torn a ligament in his ankle, while Abraw, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Keagan Buchanan are all nursing knee injuries.
With the new season now just a week away, the Amakhosi’s medical team have offered updates on all four players, all of whom are unlikely to feature in the first game against Bidvest Wits next week.
Speaking to the club's official website, Chiefs' doctors said:
“We are waiting for the final report on the ankle, thereafter a decision will be taken on how best to treat the ankle.”
“’Shabba’ should be back in full training in the next couple of days.”
“Keagan is training and he’s on track to be back to full training with the squad towards the end of August.”
“Abraw had a successful operation on his knee. The full rehabilitation will take about nine months.”
