Kaizer Chiefs are enduring their worst start to a league campaign in a decade, and from their eight games in all competitions so far they’ve picked up just one win.
After five games in the Absa Premiership, the Amakhosi are worryingly positioned in 13th place with not a single league win to their name, while their failure to reach the MTN8 final means that their three-year trophy drought will extend until at least the Telkom Knockout later this year.
Giovanni Solinas’ side go up against Cape Town City tomorrow as they look to try and bring their winless streak in the league to an end, though it will not be easy against a side that – in a complete reversal – have lost just one of their seven matches this season so far in all competitions.
Chiefs have been given a boost though as Andriamirado ‘Dax’ Andrianarimanana and Lebogang Manyama were confirmed as being available for selection, and the latter will no doubt be relishing the opportunity to make his Amakhosi debut against his former employers.
Meanwhile, George Maluleka could also make a return from injury, while Gustavo Paez is back fit again and Mario Booysen is in full training. The international break, it seems, has been kind to the Glamour Boys.
Defeat against City would be catastrophic as their league campaign got off to a torrid start, and could mean – should Maritzburg United and Chippa United win at home – that they end the weekend rock bottom of the table.
Do you think Chiefs can beat City tomorrow?
