Amakhosi Announce Historical Decision
Kaizer Chiefs Have Cancelled Their End Of Season Awards
Kaizer Chiefs’ season has come to an end without a trophy to their name for the third successive season, a disappointment that has led them to make a tough decision.
The Amakhosi did manage to finish third and clinch a CAF Confederation Cup spot as Patrick Mabedi ended his time as the interim head coach on a high, but they nevertheless set an unwanted club record by going three consecutive seasons without a trophy for the first time in their history.
Due to these unfortunate circumstances, Kaizer Motaung has confirmed that there will be another first at the Glamour Boys, with management deciding not to host an end of season awards ceremony because of ‘our displeasure’.
He told the club’s official website, “It has become customary for us to host a ceremony where the club thanks and rewards the players, technical team, staff and other individuals who have distinguished themselves over the course of the season. However, this season was marked by unusual events, one of which was seeing the club go a third year without lifting a major trophy.
“Our decision was influenced by our displeasure with the team’s performance and not being able to achieve objectives we set for ourselves.”
They said on their Twitter account, “It will be the first time in our history that we will not be having the event.
