In, Now Out – Another Injury Blow For Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs aren’t having the best of luck with injuries of late, and today they’ve confirmed that another one of their players will require surgery.
Lorenzo Gordinho has only been back with the Amakhosi for a couple of weeks following the end of his loan with Bloemfontein Celtic, but now he has been sidelined with a hand fracture that he sustained last week.
The club explained on their official website that ‘Gordinho got hurt in Kaizer Chiefs’ MDC match on the weekend and will undergo surgery’.
It will come as a disappointment for the 24-year-old centre back – who made his Amakhosi return in the win over Bidvest Wits – as he was hoping to force his way into Ernst Middendorp’s starting XI.
The coach added, “It’s unfortunate Lorenzo Gordinho is ruled out with a hand fracture. We are still waiting for Ramahlwe Mphahlele to return to full fitness as well.
“We hope to not have Lorenzo out for too long, There’s still a bit of time required to have Joseph Molangoane, Itumeleng Khune, Philani Zulu and Mulomowandau Mathoho return to action.”
Chiefs tackle AmaZulu this evening as they look to keep up their 21 game unbeaten run against the Durban-based outfit.
