Confirmed: Chiefs Appoint Interim Head Coach
Kaizer Chiefs Have Appointed Patrick Mabedi As Interim Head Coach
As predicted by the Siya crew, Kaizer Chiefs have named one of their club legends as interim coach until the end of the season following Steve Komphela’s exit.
The crew reported earlier this week that Patrick Mabedi, who was brought in as Komphela's assistant, had taken their first training session after his resignation, and that he was expected to take on the role until the end of the season.
That news has since been confirmed by the Amakhosi, who explained that he will take charge for the final three games against Golden Arrows, Maritzburg United and Ajax Cape Town.
A statement was released by the club today that read:
Following the resignation of head coach Steve Komphela, Kaizer Chiefs have decided that Patrick Mabedi will take charge of the first team for the remainder of the 2017/2018 season. The Malawian was the assistant to Komphela.
