Chiefs’ Keeper Conundrum
Ernst Middendorp is left with a decision to make about his Kaizer Chiefs goalkeepers this week, with at least three putting their hands up for a starting berth.

With Itumeleng Khune out injured for the remainder of the season, the Glamour Boys delved into the transfer market on deadline day to bring on board experienced campaigner, Daniel Akpeyi.

The decision to bring Akpeyi on board was made after a string of errors from Virgil Vries, with the club seemingly not willing to throw Bruce Bvuma in at the deep end for the upcoming Soweto Derby.
Akpeyi was consequently signed and given his debut against Orlando Pirates in the 1-1 draw, but then had to be left out for the Nedbank Cup clash due to being cup-tied, leaving Bvuma to start between the sticks.
Vries was on the bench against The Magic FC, and now, as Chiefs prepare to face Polokwane City this weekend, Middendorp has to decide whether to stick with Bvuma – who didn’t put a foot wrong on Sunday – or restore Akpeyi to the XI ahead of the youngster and Vries.
It appears that Brylon Petersen, who is the same age as Bvuma, is out of the picture, having made the bench just once in the Absa Premiership this season, and Middendorp is likely to choose one of the other three to start the game on Saturday.
