The Amakhosi lost their final pre-season encounter over the weekend as they were beaten 1-0 by Cape Town City, with Craig Martin scoring the only goal of the game at Mbombela Stadium one week before their opening clash with Mamelodi Sundowns.
Both Siphiwe Tshabalala and Khama Billiat had to be taken off in the game due to injuries, although at this stage it remains to be seen whether they are serious complaints or if they were substituted as a precautionary measure.
The Siya crew have also been led to believe that Letlhogonolo Mirwa and Gustavo Paez are both carrying minor knocks, although the former at least is expected to be fit to face Masandawana on Saturday afternoon.
Meanwhile, George Maluleka was previously spotted in a moon boot as he nurses an injury ahead of the opening game, and it appears that he is a doubt for the encounter at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
Chiefs’ players have been given the day off today as they go into their final preparations for the first game, and all of the aforementioned players are set to be assessed this week once they return to training with the new head coach, Giovanni Solinas.
