Amakhosi Star Speaks After Penning Naturena Contract

Kaizer Chiefs may not have won themselves many trophies of late, but after penning a new contract, Bernard Parker has his heart set on helping them change that.

The 32-year-old recently penned a new one-year deal with Chiefs – with an additional one-year option – that could potentially take him beyond his 35th birthday, and he’s now spoken about committing his future to the club.

With 45 Absa Premiership goals to his name since returning to South Africa in 2011, Parker has played a vital role in all of the Amakhosi’s recent success, which is why he will be feeling the three-season trophy drought more than many of his teammates.

For now, though, he’s planning to help change that, and speaking to the club’s official website, ‘Die Hond’ said, “I am very excited to continue my journey with Chiefs… Playing for Kaizer Chiefs has been an honour, not to mention one of the highlights of my career. I will continue to give my best, play with my heart on my sleeve and always respect the badge.

“It is great to be recognised as an important member of the team. I pride myself on respecting my teammates and the coach, always being a motivator by sharing my experience... I aim to achieve more success with the team. I want to help the club get back to the glory days of winning trophies – that’s my goal.”

Parker has scored in his last eight seasons for Chiefs, and will now have the chance to make it 10 in a row if he stays until 2021.
