Kaizer Chiefs yesterday confirmed that Kgotso Moleko had signed a new contract with the club, and the player has admitted that it took a lot to stay strong at Naturena.

The 29-year-old has struggled for game-time at Chiefs practically ever since his arrival at the club, however this season is now just three Absa Premiership appearances away from having his most productive season in Amakhosi colours since he made the move from Bloemfontein Celtic.

Under Ernst Middendorp, Moleko has managed to find a foothole in the team setup in Chiefs’ defence, and though he has admitted that it wasn’t always easy, he’s happy to have committed to the club until 2021.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the defender said, “This is great news for me and my family… There was a time when I was frustrated but family and other senior players in the team kept me going. It’s about putting in hard work and following the coach’s advice and instructions. I’m grateful to continue to serve the club that I love so much.”

Meanwhile, his coach is delighted with the player’s commitment to the cause after being on the periphery for so long, saying, “Moleko is on a great turnaround. He did not feature much in the early part of the season. I am happy because of his capacity to give us options. He is not only a player to use on the right position, but he is capable of playing in the centre of our defence.”
Moleko is likely to play his 11th league game of the season on Friday night against SuperSport United and will be eager to show the club why they were right to extend his stay.
