Kaizer Chiefs At The Drawing Board
Kaizer Chiefs currently find themselves on their longest string of consecutive Absa Premiership draws since back in 2011 when Vladimir Vermezovic was in charge.
The Amakhosi have scored just one goal in their last four league matches as they struggle to find that killer touch, drawing all four of the matches that followed their victory over Mamelodi Sundowns in October.
It’s the first time that Chiefs have drawn so many consecutive games since between February and April 2011 when they shared the spoils with Santos, Orlando Pirates, Vasco da Gama, Free State Stars and Bidvest Wits.
Statistically, only four teams in the division are worse than Chiefs in front of goal, with Steve Komphela’s side averaging fewer shots per game (11.2) and lower shot accuracy (27.6%) than 11 other clubs.
Having drawn 11 games all season in 2016/17, the Glamour Boys have drawn seven of their 12 games in their current campaign – with only Golden Arrows (8) having drawn more.
Chiefs take on Chippa on Wednesday evening, a team they beat in the Telkom Knockout last month, as Komphela looks to avoid equalling the five consecutive draws that ‘VV’ managed over six years ago.
Do you think Chiefs can get back to winning ways against Chippa?
