Kaizer Chiefs could be forced to move some of their home games to Polokwane towards the end of the season, with FNB Stadium set for a pitch overhaul.
According to Siya crew sources, Chiefs’ usual home venue will have the turf removed following their PSL game against Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Should that happen, then it means that the Amakhosi will be forced to make the trip to Polokwane for at least their last two homes games (Free State Stars and AmaZulu), as well as possibly their Nedbank Cup and Confederation Cup games.
The news will come as a blow to Stuart Baxter and his side in a season that has already seen them spend lots of time travelling inbetween games, especially given the fact that their PSL games against Usuthu and University of Pretoria are likely to be postponed due to the final round of CAF Confederation Cup qualification.
As it stands, Mamelodi Sundowns are level on points with Chiefs, and should the current league leaders slip up in the final weeks of the season, then they could see themselves leapfrogged by the Brazilians.
